Before beginning her official real estate sales career at Fred Sands in 1995, she and her husband Chuck bought a considerable amount of real estate for themselves. Within two years of Barbara's real estate launch, she proved her sales acumen and rose to the top 15 percent of all company agents. By the following year, she was among the top 5 percent of agents. She has received numerous awards for outstanding production achieved membership in Fred Sands prestigious Directors Circle.

In December 2000, Fred Sands merged with Coldwell Banker and created the Southlands most powerful real estate company.
